FFO ( From Quebec City to Montreal)

June 12, 2009
by

Yesterday we came to Quebec City and it was stunning from our arrival. We wandered around for a bit, and took a guided tour early in the morning. We learned the significance of’ ‘Je Me Souveins.’ We also learned about and toured the Plains of Abraham.

Highlights of the past two days include : The discovery that my brother Chris is legally a minister in the state of Indiana, and is marrying a couple in early fall. ( This isn’t a  joke).

Chris and Damien attempted to reach the top of a waterfall near Quebec City, but were soaked in minutes and quickly turned back.

After our lunch in Quebec City at an Irish pub, Meg, Damien, and I are standing outside discussing what we would like to see in the early afternoon before we drive to Montreal. We all turn to see Chris running/ swiftly walking out of the pub with a beer glass in his pocket. He proceeds to try to convince Damien to let him keep the stolen  glass in his bag of gifts for his parents, as it is a tradition of his to take the glass of each new micro-brewed beer he buys. He was deeply disappointed when he was reproached and advised to purchase the glass.

Among the laughs have been tremendous opportunities to see and discover new things. Tomorrow we are off to the nightlife of Arnprior!

What fun to follow you all on your journey through la belle province! Looking forward to reports from Arnprior, including a seasonal rating on the chip-truck. And be sure to check Chris’ pockets when he leaves Nannie’s place okay?

Didn’t mean to make my entry anonymous—hopefully you’d already figured it out….

I too have found the updates quite entertaining. Is it only my bias or has Rich’s fondness for Chevy Chase permeated the family such that you are living National Lampoon’s Vacation Canada ?
Can’t believe you did not make it to the top of Montmorency Falls. There is something not right about saying we did not go up to the top of the waterfalls as we got wet !
Am glad to see how much you are all enjoying it. As you know I did it a year ago but the beauty of the area was lost on my young children.
Please do have some Wes’s for me

Perhaps the church which ordained Chris follows a dogma that requires the theft of beer glasses?

Yes, it’s the “Church of the Purloined Tankard.”

I too, am loving following your trip. Having not seen the kids for years it is fun reading their comments as adults towards the FFO’s. Chris – if I had known you were a minister you could have come up to BC to marry the girls this summer! If you could add BC to your FFO’s that would be fantastic, would love to see you all.
    Keep laughing and having fun.

Yes, I must admit I am tuning in each day for my update on your trip through La Belle Provence and am eagerly looking forward to stories from the Prior. Is it just a coincidence that the bar where we hung out as young adults, has become The Church of the Rock…and would be sure to welcome a young minister…unless his pockets are bulging when he leaves. have some Wes’ and Nannie cupcakes for me!
