Hockey Gold!!!!!!

by

Just a cute story to share with you.  Daughter Meg who is the true sports fan in the family was running on a treadmill and watching the last period of the hockey game and her run was extended due to the overtime.  She started thinking about how cool it would be for her Dad to see Canada win one more gold in hockey. As soon as she had that thought, Canada scored!! Yippee!!!!

On a totally unrelated topic, my friend Nolan shared a DVD of our church’s mission this year, which I was unable to attend.  The priest who gave the mission referred to the prayer below which I have found comforting and thought I would share it with you.

Wishing you all well as we return to life without the Olympics!

Prayer from St. Therese of Lisieux

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

Just one more instance of the power of positive thinking – way to go Meg! We were on the edge of our seats watching the overtime period – and scared little Addy with our cheering when Sid the kid scored the winning goal. CAN-A-DA! We’re watching the closing ceremonies now and can’t believe how fast the two weeks have gone.

Thanks for the beautiful prayer from St. Therese Jane. I’ll be saying it too. Love to you all.

I had a similar coincidence. I just remarked to Jane and James that Sid the kid had been awfully quiet in the game when his shift started. Both Jane and James asked me if Sid had done enough for me not to criticize him after the goal 🙂

Doesn’t Sidney bear a striking resemblance to Steven Harper? I’d vote for him for prime minister!! We were on the edge of our seats in rural Sweden too!!

Well Carol & I were FORCED to get on a plane in Toronto after the end of the third period…disapointed, nervous, and half in the bag!!
My Daughter Taylor (on a later flight) gave me the play by play cell to cell…Kinda went like this “we got the puck…now they got the puck” and so on until we heard the screams of joy ??…Note: the NHL games are rather boring after the Olympic excitement.

I agree Steve, its pretty weird to go from heart attack excitement to a season where most winning teams already have it in the bag for a stanley cup that takes place in early june, weird, but good since the blackhawks are gonna mop up like no one’s beezewax.
